Studio for Interrelated Wrestling

“Studio for Interrelated Wrestling” was an idea planted in the SIM community for many years before it was able to come to fruition. Originally conceptualized as a performance piece of “Nick Raygun,” acting as the face of the SIM department and going to war with a trained and active professional wrestler, but quickly after Eventworks had secured funding for this vague wrestling spectacle, we knew we had to push it to the limit, question the form of our own department and work to create a platform for one of the most ignored non-commercial art practices at large.

The SIM students were asked to join forces and help reframe the major as an Independent Professional Wrestling Federation under the direction of Nick Raygun. The event made possible by the sheer collaborative strength within the department. Students created their own wrestling personas with background stories, handmade costumes, entrance music, and signature moves. The students also received training and advice from Providence based Pro Wrestler Sully Banger (Michael Heimall), who was also contracted to compete in the main event of the night.
